Re. your mood- I think you've been through a lot. The worst of it is over, at this point, and you're able to look around and start to actually process what's happened. Overwhelming, I would think. You also said you've been working 10-12 hour days and are up in the middle of the night to walk the dogs...sounds very familiar to me, and my when life is like that I'm on the verge of tears, too.
You were one of the lucky ones, and there are thousands of good folks who were not so lucky, yes. You have the capacity to see that, and you're feeling for all of those people.
Little side note: One of our dearest family members is married to a retired "water supervisor" (not sure of the official title) for the state of Indiana. He says he'd seen something like this coming and had tried to give warning that there needed to be things done to prevent, or at least prepare better for this sort of disaster. He feels like he was pretty much ignored, and very little, if anything, was done to modify the situation in preparation for widespread flooding. He's pretty depressed now, too, and feels quite helpless and frustrated.
Be encouraged, though. There will be lots of good things happen in the days to come because of people reaching out to each other. The little ducks being rescued was a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing the good and the bad with us, Frankie.
