Greetings. I wonder if anyone could offer any advice about lower cost, used anamorphic lenses and necessary adaptors for use with the Bolex H-16 reflex. There seems to be a steady stream of lenses available on eBay, but as I'm sure you all know, the sellers
typically don't know much about what they're selling and don't even include a ruler in their pictures for scale.
I'll note that for my uses, vignetting, distortion, and the ability to rotate the lens away from the perfectly vertical are features, not drawbacks.
The American experimental filmmaker Sidney Peterson made a couple of films in the late 1940s using an anamorphic lens--"The Lead Shoes" and "Mr. Frenhofer and the Minotaur"--and this is the look I'd like to achieve.
