I thought long and hard about it but basically I just can no longer remember all my AutoCorrect entries and so I'm not able to take full advantage of the work I put into creating them. IT will let me incorporate all my current AutoCorrect entries and then will show them to me as I transcribe and let me easily choose them from the pop up advisory window. I also like the "continuations" feature in IT. I think this will help me a lot with the doctors I have who might have 5 different ways of dictating a normal neuro or abdominal or whatever exam -- that is just too many for me to put in AutoText and too hard to remember all of those for each doctor to put them in AutoCorrect. With IT, all 5 of those choices will pop up for me and I can easily choose the one the doctor is dictating this time. I also think the fact that IT will make a glossary for me of each doctor by actually taking terms and phrases from that specific doctor's past work will help me tremendously. My doctors don't use templates in any way, shape, or form, so my work takes a long time to do. Some of the glossaries that are included with IT will also be very helpful I think, and there is just no way I could ever take the time to put all of that into AutoCorrect or remember it if I did.
My biggest concern with IT is that it seems like a complex program with a steep learning curve (I have been reading the IT discussion forum). I think if I start off slowly, it won't seem too hard, and I can build up to the fancier stuff IT can do as time goes on.
I hope IT will help me get some time back, and that was my main reason for buying it. It won't increase my income per se since I have my own clients and a finite amount of work, but I am hoping it will get me out from behind this computer, where I seem to be spending my entire life.
