CommentsLori,

Thank you for sharing your experience & with us other ladies. This has helped me of what to check into & questions to ask as well. I have viewed some the other links you have listed as well. I sent you an email, I don't know if it is old. I had requested the password to view the pics from your surgery. I have my first counsel w/a PS on 02/14/06 & another on 04/07/06. My PCP approved & set up the appts for me as well. Wish me luck. Thanks again, Bridget

CommentsI have a website I created back in 2000. It's about bras, and the possible link they are to breast cancer. It's at: http://pffb.1afm.com/pffb.htm I am pro true equal rights for men and women, and believe women have had to wear bras from peer pressure way too long, and now look what's happening. Too many women are in the habit of wearing bras, and can't give them up ! God never said women HAD to wear bras! Being bra and top free, is a God given right.

CommentsHi, I am 20yrs old in a 42dd and I haven't had any children yet. I have neck, back, and shoulder pains everyday. My bra cuts into my sides, and I have yet to find a bra that is good for more than 2mths. I am in college and I don't have any health insurance. My mother is trying to find some that will cover the cost of a breast reduction. I have been having pains like this for over 2 years now and I think its getting worse bacause sometimes my fiance has to hold my breast up for me to give my back a break. I just don't know what to do. Right now I have lost 4lbs and I weight 168. Please if anyone can help me respond back.

CommentsI currently weight 160 lbs, I still have 15 lbs to lose. but my breasts are 38-40 DDD. I have chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain. I have been fighting my insurance company to get them to pay. You think they would because they wouldn't have to pay for dr's visits, pain injections, and pain meds. So I hope I can get them to pay for a reduction. Did your pain(excluding after surgery) decrease, now that you have had the reduction? If I get this done I will let ya know.SAndey

CommentsHi Lori,
I don't even know how I found your website. I was just looking all over
for as much info as I could find on Breast reductions. I really loved your
journal!!! I am here at work just flipping through everything I could find
and there you were. I've been reading your story all day long, between
calls. I'm a customer service Rep for a Medical Distributor. I am
30 years old, the mother of three beautiful children. I was really pulled in
by your story because I am the same size you were before you had your
reduction and am also 5 ' 1, so weird!!! I was so happy just this past
weekend because I found a red bra that fit!!!,Of course from the same place
I've gotten them from for the past 7 years (Lee outlet) .I have always worn
old lady white bras and always wished that just once!!!!!, I could walk into
Victoria Secrets and bring something sexy home !!!!
I was in a car accident last year, I grabbed the dash board so I have
all kinds of problems with my upper back and right shoulder. I wanted and
thought about getting a reduction before this but really think I need it
now. I fear by the time I'm in my late 40s if I don't get some of this
weight lifted off an already injured shoulder I'll be in even more pain then
I am now. I am just so afraid that I'll look like Frankenstein's wife with
bad scars. I was wanting to see how you healed? I wondered also if you feel
the Mederma played a roll in your recovering? What is odo-ban by the way I
never heard of it??
Well hope to hear from you.
To Strappy Dresses!!!! : )
Thanks for sharing your story

CommentsHi again,
I forgot to mention my greatest fear involving BR. I'm worried - wrongly, I think - that my breast size has become almost a part of who I am...and by taking a lot of it away, I may loose something. Has anyone on here felt that way? I don't think I should feel this way, but I do. I'm not sure why...
Thanks again!

CommentsHi Lori,
I think my mom already wrote to you, but I felt the need to write as well. I'm an 18 year old with a size 42 D. I know it's small in comparison, but I'm still in the same boat as the rest of you. I 've been considering surgery since I was around 15 or 16. I was told that I had to wait until I was old enough to go under anethesia and three years later, I think I might finally be ready. I'm scared to death about the surgery, although reading these journals and such did help me some. I'm deathly afraid of needles, which is the main cause of my fear. Aside from that, I'm worried about not being able to breast feed if and when I decide to concieve. I know that the chances of that are slim, and that there are organizations surrounding this, but it's still a concern of mine. If I do decide to go through with surgery it won't be until the summer, when I'm out of school...but I still have fears about it. I'm worried that I won't ask enough questions, or that I won't ask the right ones. I'm sure I'll be fine though, my mother will be sure to ask if I don't. I guess I just wanted to put my mini-story out there and give support to my fellow BR-ers. Thanks so much for making this site!

CommentsHi Lori, I have this new computer which is allowing me to research my questions on breast redux. What a nice website you have !! I am not sure whether I could get a redux done. I am not exactly a double-D. I have an appointment Sept 3rd to talk with a doctor in Waterbury. One side is larger by a full cup and both arn't small to begin with. I can't tell you all the things I felt like screaming when once it was suggested to me that I pad the smaller side! Dolly Parton isn't a role model for me and at 48 I'm sick of carrying a backpack on my chest.
Thank you for your story,

I have been given the reference to a plastic surgeon already and my appt. with him is 27 Aug. Of course, that doesnt mean insurance will approve it. I guess all I can do is hope. I e-mailed you already, but there's no response yet regarding the password so I can view your pics. Maybe you will read this and respond. thanks again!

CommentsI am SERIOUSLY considering having this surgery but am not sure my insurance (Pacificare) will cover it. My husband is really worried about me being in a lot of pain. But I'm a 38 DDD and if they turn out good it would be totally worth and amount of pain. It would be nice to ba able to sit up straight again and not slouch and to be able to buy a swimsuit top that will hold the little suckers in! People just cannot understand how someone suffers with this problem. I have not gone braless since the age of 13 for God's sake! If anyone wants to email me with advice, please do. CommentsHi. I am 26 years old and I am a 34G and I have been wanting a breast reduction since I was 13 years old. (When I got breast.) I am 5'6 and weigh 160lbs. I was a 34DD from the time I was 13 until I was 25. When I was 3 months pregnant with my last child (last year) I grew to a 34G, and I have not gone down in size one bit. Needless to say, I have a consult to see a Plastic Surgeon on August 5th 2002. I too, like Lori, have Tricare medical insurance so I am wondering if I will be approved for the surgery. We will see. Let's hope so! If anyone has any advice for me or if the have a way to email Lori for her pictures password,(I've tried everything!) Please feel free to email me. Thanks!

CommentsLori,

Wow! Nice site with lots of information!

I just found out about your site when my friend, who is considering this surgery, showed me the link.

I also had this surgery about 7 months ago. :) I do NOT regret having this surgery, and I am very open about it with friends, or friends of friends who are considering having it done.

Before I had surgery, I IMed a friend of a friend who had this done. It felt good to talk to someone who had this surgery, even though I didn't really know her. I also talked to my doctor about it before having this done.

My only regret about this surgery is not having it done a couple of years earlier. I was 21 when I had it done, but I would have been less depressed and more confident if I had this done earlier. But, I believe that fate told me to not have it done until I did. :)

But anyways, feel free to email me if you care to hear about my before story.

CommentsI had my br surgery 2 wks ago. I go back to work tomorrow--I could not be more thrilled with the results. I have been in absolutely no pain since the surgery. My doc was wonderful. I did not have to deal with gauze--only drains, which came out 3 days after surgery (did not hurt) and stitches came out 6 days after surgery. I have had no problems at all. I have been able to shower and wash my own hair since the day after surgery. The only complaint I have is getting sick following surgery because I get sick from anesthesia, but they gave me Visteral for that, which really helped. If anyone has any questions, please email me, I'll be glad to let you in on my wonderful experience--I highly recommend this surgery, I could not be more thrilled with the results. I went from a 38D to a 38C. Lori, thanks for your journal--it really helped to ease my mind going into surgery. The only fear I had going into surgery was the anesthesia part. Thanks for listening!!!

CommentsLori, I am still going through the site. I am having my BR on June 13, 2002. I've been large since a teen (38-DD) but since having two kids and breastfeeding them both, I got up to a 40-J/38K and am just in so much pain, it was time and very medically neccessary. Currently, I bide my time using bras that are too small and trying to find a video of the surgery to better prepare myself and my family. Thank you for your courage to speak out.

CommentsThe greatest strength a person can find is what is inside them. It is pure and it does not falter as long as the heart and soul are true to itself. You can have the belief in so many things and if you do not have faith in yourself then hope is gone. You, Lori, have found that middle part in yourself that can see you through all things and I have know you long enough to know it is pure love that keeps the heart true.

I was extremely bored for a little while not being able to do anything but I am all healed up now and able to do just about anything and can't wait to put on my wedding dress and actually have it taken up in the chest area... Never thought that would happen... Thanks again.

CommentsThanks for putting your life out in the open.I deloped early (11) and always wanted to get rid of these things.Recently my doctor told me that the chest pains i been having is because of the large bra and the weight of my breast, and that i should consider getting them reduced. The next day i called my insurance comp. to ask about it.Now all i have to do is have my doctor say it is a medical necesity and i'm on my way!which i don't see as a problem.i can't pass up them paying 90% after the deductible !I will come back and sign in again and let everyone know how it goes. Thank you for the questions too !They will come in handy .sorry so long. =)

Unfortunately I don't have insurance so I had to save up. It will be pretty painful to let that money go but definately worth it. I'm a bit worried about my mother, she thinks things like this is a waste of money and I'm undergoing surgery in 2 months. I guess I should start thinking about how I'm gonna tell her.
Wish me luck!
