After our 2nd planning meeting on Sunday, May 1, here is where we are in the planning stage for our reunion next year:
1. We have a solid location for the Friday night ice breaker at Lonnegan's Sports Bar on Grapevine Hwy. It will be a come-and-go as you please event. Food & drinks are up to you. Plenty of pool tables and other parlor games available.
2. It looks like "Austin Ranch" by Grapevine Mills Mall may be our Saturday night venue (barring some considerable hue and cry from the masses). It is a large facility with a casual atmosphere and nice grounds in the back by the water. A sit-down dinner is being considered as opposed to a buffet to keep cost down. A plate goes for $25 to $30 depending on food item; there is a cash bar. Amerisuites is within steps if you don't want to drive.
3. Since weather (summer heat)will not be a factor for this facility, what month would be preferable for our event? Is a summer month good? or does it matter since MOST of our kids are older? If we want June we have to book pretty soon as it needs to be done about a year in advance. The fall is also an option. PLEASE STATE WHICH MONTH YOU WOULD PREFER TO HAVE IT. We want your opinion!
4. The combined reunion thing: Last year '74 invited '73 & '75. This year is '75's, so by next year they will certainly be reunioned-out. What if we only asked '77? They haven't had one since their 20th in 1997 so they may be good to go. OR, do we just want '76 and risk having a low turnout which happens after these many years. PLEASE STATE YOUR PREFERENCE.
Friends, this is OUR reunion, not just the 4 or 5 people who plan it. We can guess your opinion but we really would like to hear from YOU! Please post your thoughts and ideas on this board so we can all get a feel for what we want. Get out of your middle-aged rut and post!
