Hey Greg,
You are correct about the $55 price tag. We will probably have to add $5 to the $35 Saturday event just to cover our expenses. Several people on the committee are shooting for a $40 to $45 dollar ticket price for the Saturday event to keep it affordable. That leaves $5 per person to cover the entertainment. Which means the budget is really blown if we look at Rusty Wier. I won't think we should walk away from Rusty Wier as the entertainment. We might be able swing something once we know the prices & see who is interested in donating funds. Keep in mind the entertainment won't be playing the whole 4 hours. People come to a reunion because they want to visit, which means they need to be able to hear each other talk. That means the entertainment needs to be a small part of the evening, not the main event, like at a concert. Normally, that weeds out real entertainers.
As far as Father's Day weekend, we actually try not to schedule a reunion event then. It's only convenient for people that have fathers here in the metroplex & assumes they can divide up the weekend between us & family. The gurus for events of this nature steer you away from family oriented holidays- it's a deal breaker for many who would like to attend & can't combine the two events.
Hope you can see where I am coming from on these two issues. It's a tight rope walk to keep everyone's idea of a fun weekend in balance. Two tickets & a night at a hotel can blow a budget for some of us with kids in college. We want as many people as possible to come & feel like they got their money's worth & didn't have to spend their family vacation money on a weekend just for adults. Hope this makes some sense.
