: : : I have talked to few boys (Ed Jefferson, Todd Albritton and Greg Kemp) on the subject of a golf outing prior to the Saturday night festivities. I will volunteer to coordinate such. Additionally, we agreed that we would prefer a May/June timeframe over a late summer/fall time. May is probably more difficult due to graduations/proms, Colonial, etc. We also were wondering about Saturday night entertainment... we could get Rusty Wier for ~$2500. If we invited all three classes (75, 76 and 77) this cost could be distributed accordingly. Still may be cost prohibited... just an idea we were kicking around.

: : Great ideas Greg and others, especially the Rusty Wier thing !
: These are all great ideas and I look forward to making it to the next meeting. Sorry I haven't made it to one yet but I love hearing all the ideas. I like the golf idea but does it cost extra to get Rusty Wier to come sober? :)
: See ya'll,

Hey group!
The last meeting was very productive. The Friday night site, Lonnegan's, will be a great spot to mix & mingle. Pool tables, wall darts, shuffle board, a few video games, a large area with big screen TVs and a patio to get away from it all make it a perfect place for a reunion gathering. The good news- the committee will pay for nothing. Everyone will order off the menu & spend as much or as little as they choose. Austin Ranch is our first pick for the Saturday night event. A Southwestern buffet will be served including Chicken with chipolte sauce, smoked sausage, rice, vegetables, rolls, a beverage, cobbler & cash bar have been selected. Kathy Bowlin will provide a cake decorated in rebel flags to round out the dessert menu. The location in Grapevine is easy access from Hwy 121 or Hwy 26. 3 hotels are within a block of the facility, the atmosphere is casual western- no ties or fancy dresses will have to be purchased! The contract has been mailed to me to finalize & reserve the room.
The topic for the next meeting on June the 12th is our reunion budget (ugh). I will bring the contract for Austin Ranch with me to review with the committee. We will need to scrape together the $1000 deposit at this meeting if we want to hold the reservation. This is nonrefundable. The cost per person for the Saturday event only is $35 if we have only the minimum of 150 attend- which we should easily exceed. This price does not cover entertainment or mailing costs (ugh). I will have a total of the moneys donated from the last reunion & we can determine who we want to approach for donations to help defer some of the cost. Tara has a great idea for a bulk rate mailing permit for a year that will help with the mailout. If the committee agrees, I can open a checking account at my bank for free & funnel the moneys thru it for the next year. I will also check with the classmate I know from '77 that does DJ work on the side & see what his fee would be for 4 hours. Someone needs to ask Rusty Weir if he would cut his fee in half for our event. Even at that, I am not sure we can afford his bill without inflating our ticket cost to $50 or receiving a really large cash donation. There's your food for thought for the next few weeks! Hope all of you can attend & bring someone with you. I'll send out a reminder a few days before the meeting.
Until then.....
