CommentsMy boys and I adore your museum. We, along with my parents and husband are dragged along every year to see 'the real Thomas' who has 'come to our world from Sodor just to see us'. You bring smiles and dreams come true for my boys. Thanks and keep up the good work.

CommentsThank you to the volunteers. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Really friendly and helpful folks. This is a great display. If you are into trains and your other half is not? Make sure they bring plenty of knitting and some good books! Or have them drop you off at the gate and let them go shopping for a few hours (plenty of good shops in Port Adelaide)2-3 hours minimum Ha!

It was always a great pleasure to catch it here at Gladstone for the trip to Adelaide. Now We have no such service in the country areas. OH to go back to the good old days!

CommentsHi there. Its a great website.
My father Bill Carey spent 45 years in the s.a.r.
He joined in 1942 as a cleaner, fireman andengineman.Bill lost his arm in 1961 on steamie in Pt. pirie.
He worked at terowie, peterborough ,
tailem bend, murray bridge, barmera, all over s.a
He retired in 1987 as check porter
at mile end, and is living where he grew up at murray bridge.
If anyone can remember him, old railway mates, his phone number is
08-85326438. He would love to hear from them.
He worked on many types of loco from w,s,q,rx,y,p,t,x,700,600, 720, 520,early diesel 900 class. Many types of engines he fired and drove. Both on narrow gauge and broad gauge.
His favourite was 521 Thomas Playford.
He drove this many times on passenger trains Port Pirie to Adelaide, also on west to east express trains.
Bill says it was a sad sight to see the steam engines all lined up for scrapping with cutters torch from early 60's.We think the museum is fantastic and we go twice a year.
