: altering your judgement. Surgery is probably looking like the easy solution..but it rarely is. The Slim4 Life is also a temporary solution but it has to be cheaper than surgery and won't permanently alter your anatomy. My first questio to you is..have you had your sleep apnea treated? It is essential that you do. Second, I too have all your symptoms..except my ankle swelling is bilateral. I sought the advice of a nutritionist and have changed my attitude from one of defeat to one of take charge. It is hard work..and the result slow..but it can be done. I have 12 recipes I like and that helps eliminate making decisions. If I get hungry..I eat vegetables. I have 3 glasses skim milk a day, 2 servings of fruit and have cut my protein from 6-8 oz per meal..to 6-8 oz per day. I love soup and have several on hand that are under 200 calories a serving. You must drink water, water, and more water..it really help with flusing the fluid out. I never sit for more than 90 minutes (unless i am at a movie) without getting up and walking..even at home. Get the most bang for you calorie you can..eat 1 slice of bread for a sandwich..put vegies in your pasta to fill you up..extra salad will never hurt you. You'll do what you do..but if you only do one thing I suggested - it would be adjust the attitude..you may need some anti-depressant for a while..some counseling ..but you are your best friend..treat yourself like you would your real best friend. I'm not some healthnut, exercise freak, or skinny whiny I need to lose 10 pounds person - I'm 180 lbs overweight - and my advice is what I am following. Good luck to you whatever you choose..and keep us posted.

: : I am just beginning my research and I will consider your experience carefully as I "weigh" my decision.
: : I plan to interview doctors and preferably go to someone that is recommended by a friend although I know that even if I go to someone personally recommended, I won't be guaranteed a flawless surgery.
: : The reason why I want to consider this.... I am SO VERY TIRED of trying to lose weight and then gain weight. My entire life I've had weight problems and now I have other problems...off the chart sugars, right ankle swelling, low back ache, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and general lethargy. I probably can try another diet/exercise routine, and I feel I would likely fail again. :::sigh::: (I know I'm on the pity pot...I'll pop off in a little bit.)
: : I am also considering Slim 4 Life - a diet and supplement program. A neighbor has lost 30+ pounds on this (I need to lose 80 pounds). It's expensive...and part of me would just rather put the money toward surgery instead of another program that, if it's been like the other programs, I will fail.
: : So...thank you again for your reply MTP. I will carefully consider your experience as I usually only hear of the "success" stories so it's good to have a dose of the other possible outcomes as well. I am going to talk to my PCP, my friend who has had the surgery, my friend who did Slim 4 Life, and my Self about this....it's a BIG life-changing decision to have surgery....so I'm going to collect my information, contemplate, and go from there...
: : Again, my thanks to you, MTP! I am sorry your outcome had complications....and I can only hope things change for the better for you...
: : ((Gentle hugs...))
