I am just beginning my research and I will consider your experience carefully as I "weigh" my decision.
I plan to interview doctors and preferably go to someone that is recommended by a friend although I know that even if I go to someone personally recommended, I won't be guaranteed a flawless surgery.
The reason why I want to consider this.... I am SO VERY TIRED of trying to lose weight and then gain weight. My entire life I've had weight problems and now I have other problems...off the chart sugars, right ankle swelling, low back ache, sleep apnea,high cholesterol, and general lethargy. I probably can try another diet/exercise routine, and I feel I would likely fail again. :::sigh::: (I know I'm on the pity pot...I'll pop off in a little bit.)
I am also considering Slim 4 Life - a diet and supplement program. A neighbor has lost 30+ pounds on this (I need to lose 80 pounds). It's expensive...and part of me would just rather put the money toward surgery instead of another program that, if it's been like the other programs, I will fail.
So...thank you again for your reply MTP. I will carefully consider your experience as I usually only hear of the "success" stories so it's good to have a dose of the other possible outcomes as well. I am going to talk to my PCP, my friend who has had the surgery, my friend who did Slim 4 Life, and my Self about this....it's a BIG life-changing decision to have surgery....so I'm going to collect my information, contemplate, and go from there...
Again, my thanks to you, MTP! I am sorry your outcome had complications....and I can only hope things change for the better for you...
