Comments	Looking for decendants of William Mcleod. William came to America from Scotland around 1770. He had three sons who born in Scotland and came to America but not sure age or when they came. Their names were Murdock, Norman, and Neil. All three were in the war of 1812 and were captured with barely escaping their lives and held as prisoners in South Carolina. Neil was killed by the indians, not sure when. Murdock stayed in the South after the war and Norman went to New York. One of Normans' children was the famous Rev. Dr. William Norman Mcleod. William's second wife was a Mackenzie who was sister of the legendary "Sir Alexander Mackenzie". They produced one child, Allen Mcleod. He was born abt. 1775 in Stone Arabria, NY. It is said that William died before the birth of Allen and is buried in Johnstown, Montgomery, NY. I am the great great great granddaughter of Allen. Allen died in St. Lawrence, NY.

Comments	I descend from 4 McLeod brothers who emigrated to North Carolina from the Isle of Skye in the early 1800's (most likely 1802 aboard the 'Duke of Kent'). My emigrant ancestor is believed to be John McLeod and his wife a McKinnon who settled in what was then Cumberland County, North Carolina (maybe now Hoke Co.) Many of their children went to South Carolina (many near Clio, Marlboro Co.) -- Norman, Daniel and Murdoch. My great-great grandfather, Lauchlin John McLeod stayed in NC and married in 1846 Mary Ann McLeod, the daughter of "Sailor" Murdoch McLeod -- who also emigrated in 1802 from the Isle of Skye. In 1848 his first wife died in childbirth and he re-married Effie Wilson in 1853. I descend from their son Norman C. McLeod (1858--1918). Much of this family is associated with old Sandy grove Presbyterian church in what is now southwest Ft. Bragg. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has reason to believe we have a connection. Comments	Great site. My mother is a Mcleod, her Great Grandfather came to Canada from Scotland and married an aboriginal woman from Ontario, they had many kids, one of whom was my Great Grandfather. His name was Norman McLeod. Norman moved to Wabasca AB to manage the Hudsons Bay Company, married a cree woman and settled there. His family still resides in Wabasca.
