As we thought many months ago, the Countryside Alliance have been in denial over the proposed ban on Hunting. For the past three years Sam Butler of the C.A. was emailing activists in Scotland telling them "do not listen to Jim Crawford, we are going to save Hunting". Today the SCA announced that they will take their legal fight no further as they cannot win. The small fortune that this futile defence of Hunting in Scotland has cost is a disgrace. We offered to save hunting four years ago but the C.A. refused our offer as they depend on the Conservative Party voters for their funds.
The Green Party can hold the balance of power in Scotland and are often consulted by the Labour Party prior to legislation being proposed. The Green Party had less than 500 members in Scotland and spent under £20,000 fighting the last election - they have now got six seats in the Scottish Parliament.
We are told that the Hunts that remain in Scotland are fighting for life as 50% of followers are no longer members. You will see that in the next two seasons,Hunts will close down.
Please read the letters on our front page, and make up your own mind as to the future. Direct political action is the only way that we will defend what is left of our rural sports and pastimes.
