* MessageHi, I've carried them (at least one, if not several) every day for the last 37 years. I am never without them. They have helped me out of more binds than I could ever remember. I have a large tattoo of the vic. cross on my rt forearm and I am planning on another one ( not exact) on the lt. I only have about thirty products so far. Like sunglasses, shirts, hats, compasses, pins, and of course knives. etc. I am a true believer in them and love them forever. I will be buried with at least one, The kids will get the rest. Thank you for the great site, I didn't know about it until today!

The shop is a SAK museum.

I just got a tube of Autosol (very well known in Europe) and will try using your restoration techniques. Are you sure its okay to sandpaper Celidor?

Excellent website. I also started in the late 70's My dad gave me my first Executive. My own first purchase was today's explorer but with the metal file added. I Think it was called Modeller or Geologist purchased in London 1978. The oldest one still in my possession is my 1982 Champion bought from Georgetown, Wash. DC.

* MessageI love swiss army knives. I have a collections of both Victorinox and Wenger knives. I bought my first SAK at a store called FEDCO in National City in San Diego. Fedco had a knife and shaving section. We we would go there I would always go to the knife case and looke at the SAK's and over look the Buck's and other brands. I think I was about 12 or 13 when I bought my first on. It was the hiker modle. That was about 1986 or so. Then I bought a cadet, and then a mauser (that I gave to my Dad). That started it all and I love watching for deals online to grow my collection. I too am saving knives for my girls and son if they are intrested. You have a nice web site. Thanks for showing your collections.

I actually am trying very hard to identify the model of this knife and cannot find it anywhere so far. Retailers don't know and I have scoured the Victorinox website for info to no avail. If you are able to contact me for any assistance in identifying the knife I would be forever grateful. I really just want to satisfy my own curiosity but am seriously considering collecting the knives now.

The SAK itself has a worn shield on it but not the usual shield I see. It's a shield with the cross inside but shield has straight sides instead and no other SAK I can find currently has this configuration of tools. If you would like to have a look I can send you a description and photos as well

regards
Richard

* MessageMessage - I started working at Victorinox Swiss Army about 2 1/2 years ago and love the knives. I got your website from Mike Smith and it has helped me learn more about the knives. I have collected some nice unique knives so far, but I'm really interested in getting something older. If you have anything you might be looking to sell let me know. I am going to Smoky in October and I can't wait. Feel free to put me on your e-mail list. I will continue to review your site for more history.

* MessageHello. I have been using and collecting SAK's since 1986. I first saw them when I was 8 years old in JC Penny's Christmas 1980 catalog. I wanted the Champion, but no, parents said no, too expensive. No problem. I own or have owned the following:
Spartan (bought broken in 1986, repaired, gave away as a gift after new handles installed), Champion bought new 1986, stolen 1995. Huntsman 1996, lost 1996 (yep!!). Champion, bought used 1996 to replace lost one, still have it, used it in OIF 2003. Small Tinker, bought new 1990, lost in 1993. Black Swiss Champ w/SOS kit, 1988-89. Still have it. Classic US Army, 1991, still have it. Older Craftsman, 1996, no pliers, still have it. Used Champion, 2007, bought in ROK, use it every day!! Super Tinker, 2006, carry it for dress use. And yesterday, received my NIB One Hand Trekker....NICE!!

My wife, bought her a Deluxe Tinker ind 2002, handles melted, turned it in for repair, and got a NIB Champion pre 1986 (forth Champion I have owned). That went immediately to the collector box...and got her a Wenger EVO-16. I bought her earlier this year a pink alox Classic for her key ring. She likes them, too!!

Location & MessageG'day from Ipswich (just outside Brisbane, Queensland, Australian.) Took a link from EDC Forums. Still have My first Vic. Camper I was given when invested as a boy scout ( 1978). My EDC is a one hand opening Trailmaster. As a point of interest I saw that particular knife in Tactical knives magazine three years ago. I then harrased the Australian importers of Victorinox to supply that knife. So we got 6 then another 6, then 12 and 12 months later the importer decided that if a small camping shop like the one I work at can sell that model so well maybe they should make it a permanet line. So they did. My little fella is 14mths old and he has two Vic. SAKs a plastic "camper" for his next birthday and a "first" for his 7th birthday. The same age I got my first knife. Thanks for an informative site, keep up the good work, Travel safe. Carl

I am in the NYANG and deploy to both Greenland and Antarctica frequently. I will send an IP address from Greenland in August and Antarctica in January. I fly to the South Pole and can get a picture of a Swiss Army Knife at the South Pole if someone is willing to loan me one???
