On the one hand, I think they do tend to like to have other birds in the house but on the other hand you can never know if two birds will get along. It is usually advised to get a second bird if YOU want one, not for your bird. Adding a second bird may change things in ways you don't anticipate, such as the two becoming really bonded and not interested in you anymore. That's less likely if it is a different species.
If you do, they'll need separate cages, and you'll need to observe a quarantine period of about a month when the new bird first comes home.
