Hi Lyndsey,
Give your bird a little time to get used to any new toy. Don't put it in their cage right away - set it in the room somewhere where your bird can see it without being afraid of it. Pick it up occasionally and play with it yourself so your bird will get the idea that it isn't a threat. It may take a little while.
I think most GCCs love bells. Well, 'love' might be the wrong term. Magoo beats the daylights out of his bells on a daily basis.
