Reading about weaning and hearing that Breeders have given/sold babies before they are weaned. Makes me sad/mad...PLEASE understand Bonding with birds is also done after weaning. If you find that a breeder wants you to continue with the handfeeding/weaning,,, DO NOT DO IT. Paula has given great advice. Weaning has many factors involved. Birds should only be put in small cages ( as not to fall far if they start climbing )when they start feathering and with a paper towel on the bottom of the cage with pellets on towels and golf ball size toys ( wooden blocks, little plastic koosh animals ). Clean often due to, well, you know. Then return to heating pad and container at night. Fully feathered can stay in cage in a warm room, No drafts. As Paula stated they will let you know when they are ready and pull away when handfeeding, sometimes it's really suttle, So Don't force the feeding at that point. Three feeding times at the end of handfeeding, morning, noon, night. Feedings should be taken away in cc's and noon is dropped first, then morning, and last that should be reduced is night feedings if not pulling away. Handling babies and just touching babies helps with maturity of the bird. This info is not to incurage people getting babies before their weaned, it is for the unfurtunate ones that have been given/sold a baby unweaned.
