Jenny, I also have a baby green cheek, he was born 3/10/09. When I got him on 5/10/09 I still needed to hand feed him 2-3 times daily. I kept millet in his cage and keep the heating pad under him until he was completely feathered - about 2 more weeks after I got him. I decreased the hand feeding to 1-2 feeds daily and also gave him some soften pellets. They like it better if you use warm water to soften them - it makes it more familiar like the warm hand feeding formula. They will wean when they are ready. I watched and weighed him daily during this process. He also discovered he loved cooked corn on the cob and that was what convinced him to be weaned. They will decided to take less and less hand feeding and more and more food. Even after he was off hand feeding for a week one day he decided he needed to be hand fed and squeeked and went to the area I used to hand feed him until I did hand feed him. Then that was the last time he showed any interest in it. It was about 12 weeks for this process. Do not push it, they seem to know what is best for them.
