Both my GCCs started "practicing" words at about 6 months old. The oldest (who is now 2-1/2)didn't get to the point where you could understand the words clearly until she was around a year old. (My youngest is still under a year old so hasn't perfected his words yet. I'm wondering if he'll be on the same schedule and be understandable by the time he's one).
