Basil, my GCC always gets car sick if she is in a small travel cage (12" x 8"), even if I cover her. Now she travels in her larger sleep cage (18" x 18"), with every side covered except the one facing me, and is fine. My avian vet said it is very common for GCC to get car sick. I'd recommend putting your GCC in the largest sized travel cage you can manage, and play around with how much you need to cover it. If Basil is traveling short distances I do not put any food or water in the cage to minimize the chance of her vomiting. I make sure to give her regular pellets, fresh veggies/fruit & water once we stop at our location. Hope this helps!
