Are you giving him baths ?
A heat lamp maybe in the winter would dry him out but if you aren't misting or bathing him he will be dry. My Conure never has a big molt like my Tiel, just maybe a large feather and some small ones.
Also is it an Avian vet ? I wouldn't be giving my healthy bird any prescriptions on what a vet "thought" he had, time to find another vet.
