There are all kinds of birdie bread mixes and recipes out there. Most are based on cornbread with added veggies and other things.
What I have been doing for my birds lately:
1 1/2 cups Harrison's lifetime pellets, ground up in coffee grinder
1/2 cup oatmeal, ground up in coffee grinder
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cormmeal
1 T baking powder
1 cup parakeet seed
1/2 to 1 cup flax seed
1/4 cup oil (I usually make some of this peanut butter)
2 eggs
about 2 cups juice (enough to make thick batter)
2-3 cups of veggies shredded in the food processor (usually carrots, greens of some kind, and whatever other veggie I have)
Plus whatever spices your birds like - I usually add cinnamon and chili powder.
Just mix everything together and bake in 9x13 pan. I bake it at 350 until it is just a little golden on top but I've never timed it - maybe 40 minutes?
Then cut into little cubes, bag, and freese. A batch will last a month or two. It just takes a few seconds to thaw a piece for the birds' breakfast.
It is a very flexible recipe. In summer I will go through the vegetable garden, pick a little bit of everything, chop it up, and toss it in.
