I have both 2GCC's and 2 Cockatiels...First, Cockatiels are a lot more docile than a GCC, so no, playing together would not be good for the cockatiel...Gcc can and are territorial and can be aggressive and very jealous...Cockatiels are not loud unless they are call for attention, due to LACK of attention...I have a cockatiel that love to set and talk to me and gives kiss, LOVES to be scritched on the head, but no petting or hands around cuddling...Then I also have a female named Cuddles, and lives up to her name. Wants hand around her all the time...Both make excellent pets for Children, but GCC's are nippier. However, you say these are rescue birds, so they will come with some baggage that you will have to work out...Oh, cockatiels are prone to yeast infections, so probiotic on the food and apple cider vinegar in the water...Female cockatiels are also prolific egg layers even without a mate, so be sure and read up on cockatiels and egg laying if you get a female.
