A GCC reaches sexual maturity at 2 years of age. My GCC just turned two last month, my only advise is to be stern and not let them get away with the excess bitting and mood swings. What I have been doing since her molting/terrible twos mood swings started is that I'll put her on the floor or on a dresser. Her cage/play stand are happy places so I avoid putting her there when she is acting up. Also now that the days are getting longer their hormones go into overdrive. Try to give your GCC as close to 12 hours of darkness/sleep as possible. If her affection to the toy you mentioned is too much then move it to another spot in the cage or remove it.
