Best bet (But very time consuming) is to search for the driver car combination in period Autosport and Motorsport write ups.
You could also post a message on the historic motorsport forum at www.ten-tenths.com which is where many very knowlegeable motorsports enthusiasts share information - A long shot but worth a try!
