Commentsi think the last comments are good john lawler for the juniors and cass for the inter. I think John lawler is abroad in college but will be back for championship but deserves a go at the captaincy and david cass have being an outstanding player down the years and is well deserved of it if he gets it.

CommentsBracknagh are great little club giving the small pick you have. The last few were fantastic with Davey Connolly playing championship for Offaly and the club spending 6 years in senior. Noth to mention having the best footballer in the land for the last 25 years in Frank. Hang in there the good times will com again with hard work. 08

I also hope danny stays as treasurer he does a fabulous job every year on the accounts and it is down to him we have such a healthy financial club. I also hope Pascal and Mick remain on as trainers they done a great job last year and have the players going in the rite direction. we are a proud little club and are a tight knit community and I am proud to be a bracknagh man. He's one of Offalys greatest not just Bracknaghs greatest ever player. I dont believe the previous poster is from around here or else he wouldn't speak like that.

CommentsI agree that a serious amount of commitment is required just to hold your own at intermediate level for a small club like bracknagh, but after looking at the lads against Doon, fittness didnt seem to be an issue, which indicated that the commitment is there. Possibly a bit more calmness up front would have won that game, and that will come with confidence. Its hugely important that younger and older players continue to play with the club, to ensure its survival at the current grade.

CommentsTalent Spotter you have to realise that we beat a very poor Balyfore team with a late late goal and beat a very poor clara team. If we were in either of the other 2 groups we'd have been in the relegation battle. If lads don't knuckle down and get fit next year we could well be relegated. Yes it was a good championship (we had a dire league) but we got lucky with the draw. Also its not fair to say that lads are picked based on training and league/championship games.....there was one or two playing saturday thatwouldn't have been picke if that was the case but we had no choice but to play them. Fran was our best attacking hope last weekend but he cant go on forever, neither can Pascal. ut as I said if the comitment is there we can push to go better next year if its not there then we could well face elegation its a fact.

CommentsI dont know where people are coming from talking about "bringing in younger players". Bracknagh gaa club is a single unit. all players train together, and from training, league, challenge and championship games, the best players are picked on merit. If there are so called younger players as good or better than the ones who are playing by all means they should be picked, but to suggest they should be brought in does not make any sense. Also, following the most successful season in about 5 years, talk of going junior sounds ridiculous.

CommentsBest wishes to Pascal he was playing very well up to the injury and had just fielded a fine high kick out when the leg went. I hope he has another season in him. Fran was not fit at all but he gave everything up to the very end. He really took control on the 40 in the 2nd half but shooting let him down. We are at a cross roads. Its either sink and go to junior or start a push to put together a reasonable challenge for the intermediate championship. We ned the likes of Pascals passion and Frans talent (but he must be fit) in the next couple of years. The time is also now to bring in a few younger lads.

CommentsGreat win yesturday the reaction afterwords said it all really. Absolutly delighted and theres no reason we can beat Clara and qualify for knokouts. Tom was solid at full back. Dec broke a lot of ball around the middle but didnt win much clean ball. Connolly kicked his frees well in the first half when we needed them. Pascal fair play to him covered an awful lot of ground and goty back to help out the defence but i was going to go out and kick him up the arse myself for getting involved near the end in the fighting (talk about the 3rd man in... he ran 30 yards to swipe at the Ballyfore lad) almost got our free reversed and we'd have lost!!Emmett was my man of the match. Blackie is a legend after that 14 yard free trickled wide!!!!!! A lot of talk about Wyer lately and we really did miss his ball winning and the few points that he always chipped in with. Still we were happy supporters leaving clonbullogue yeastuday.

Hes bowing out still at the top of his game and for that I salute the great man. On to the Tubber game, I think the idea of us winning that match friday is very unlikely. Tubber are flying and beat Edenderry. On the posters that say we are heading for junior, i wouldnt be so sure. Ballyfore in my opinion are more brutal than we are so we have a chance.

CommentsWell said Braknagh man. people tend to overlook the health benefits of playing sports. Bracknagh needs a dose of youth coming through. CommentsIt would be a disaster for any of the young players to stop playing for Bracknagh. They are the present and the future. There are a lot of the current players getting older and for the club to survive, every possible player is needed. Players get annoyed if they are not picked for every game, but its a process everyone has to go through. If you ask any of the older players, many of them sat on the sideline for years. The benifits of being involved with the clubs are far reaching, health wise, friendships, social interaction. Its very important to keep our small rural club alive and well. slan

Commentspoint taken but do you not agree that that Weir and Connolly were not fully utilised this year. We will give ourselves the greatest chance of success by getting the best out of them 2 for a start. Let Weir kick every free and sideline we get within 50 yards.......gaurenteed points every time. We just need to be more clever than we currently are! On a bleak note for Offaly that Walsh Island team were brutal beyond belief yesturday (not just saying it cos they are neighbours...i actually hoped they win) but if this is what Richie Connors has to offer in terms of tactics then God help us.

It was one of the best nights i've had in ages. Too often we only hear negative things about Bracknagh but after all the tragedies and recent disappointments it was obvious to everyone how resiliant and strong is the real community of Bracknagh.
The speeches were entertaining without being over long, well done Pat Walsh.
Charlie as ever was Charlie,we'll have to organise a retreat for him so he can learn to say Grace before meals!!!!!!!!!!
Again thanks to everyone who organised the whole event and hopefully I will see you all at the anniversary of our most recent win 2000

CommentsThanks to everyone involved in organising the dinner dance last week. It was great to see everyone again and to feel a part of such a community. I had the pleasure of talking with the people from my parents generation as well as my own teammates and friends. In addition to this I also spoke with some of the footballers of the current team who I only knew as small children. It was very apparent to me that the success achieved 25 years ago was born out of that community spirit which was instilled in us all at a young age and still exists in the current players i spoke to. My sons, who have grown up here in Holland, were moved by the display of that spirit during our visit. For myself it was an honour to show my sons and their friend why I am so proud to be Irish and to have played football with a club such as ours.

Thanks again
