My dad, Robert Eckert, now 83 is trying to find out what happened to his brother George who was simply listed as missing. He flew for VF-80 and went missing November 5, 1944 at Cavite. The VF-80 action reports are "under construction". Would they report what happened? Additionally, about a year later, the Navy returned what they claimed to be George's remains. Dad never believed it. Would there be a record of recovered pilots after the islands were retaken?
