THE HISTORY
MAY 1950: Owners Thomas and Jennie J. Nicol open Wall Stadium.

NOVEMBER 1974: Jennie J. Nicol runs the first Turkey Derby despite everyone's angst over racing in cold weather.

FEB. 26, 2002: Partners Tim Shinn, Tom Mauser, Joe Sansari and the Creamer Brothers buy Wall Stadium. Mauser, also named the track operations manager, is fired after 10 weeks and replaced by Sergio Benitz. His small share in the track is purchased by Fred Archer.

AUGUST 2005: An application to replace the speedway with townhouses and office buildings is withdrawn. Joint North Jersey developers MDK Development and Sterling Properties were under contract to purchase the 50-acre property on Route 34 for an undisclosed amount, but they withdrew their application.

JANUARY 2008: Speedway partners, denying rumors, say the track is not closing. A tentative schedule is posted while major races, including a NASCAR tour race, are moved because of the track's uncertainty.

MARCH 14, 2008: Partners close the speedway, with no future plans announced.
