My Great great grandmother, Rebecca Brister, was born at the 1st Somerset Militia Army Camp near Upwey in 1806, with twin sister Elizabeth whilst their father, Edwin, was stationed there with her mother Ann. The baptism of the twins is recorded in both the registers of Upwey and Broadwey churches.
My Grandparents owned the Wishing Well in the early 1900s, so I was very pleased to find your site whilst looking for history for my family tree. I am going to try & contact Sue Virgin for a copy of her book which I would love to have. Kate

Interesting site. My ancestors John Drake and Ann Lovell were born in Upwey in 1727 and c1720's. I hope to visit someday. If anyone has any information on the Drake/lovell families, I'd love to hear from you.
