Suzanne, don't focus on anything too rigid, chances are someone else there will be working out too and you can safely run together. I have travelled a fair amount in the past (3-4 business trips a year) and find it is important just to do something--anything, because I always tend to over eat and feel bloated all day. You might be eating "cafeteria" food at Rice University and that can have the same adverse effect as my over eating. A simple treadmill run or swim will keep your body in it's normal routine.

Have fun.

: Hi All,

: I need some advice as to how to go about maintaining some semblance of a workout schedule while out in Houston at Rice University for my USATF Level II training. I have been told that their indoor "facilities" are undergoing improvements or something, not sure if this includes outdoor track or not. I don't think I will be able to do a whole lot, since I will be in class all day from the 13th to the 19th with travel days on the 12th and 20th, but I don't want to get so out of shape or do nothing at all. I am a little concerned with the safety factor, since I will probably be doing these runs early and by myself in a strange city. This is my first time doing this sort of thing, working out while traveling. So, any advice would be helpful.
