Fur childen??? ROFL.
Walking away, shaking head.
13:16:25 10/12/2008

Cause they love you unconditionally, and if you didn't
have any, you'd go get more.
08:39:45 10/12/2008

Yes, they do, and that's great. But, no, I won't get more.
Went w/o pets for 18 years. I can do that again. nm

Because they love you dearly and you love them too. :-)
Life would feel a lot more empty w/o them. nm

I didn't say I was going to "throw them out." Read the post.

Silly me. I put diapers on my kids and they never pooped or peed
on the floor. Guess I was just lucky???

The litterbox. Your cat scratching and walking in a concentrated area of pee/poop. And then
90% of cats get on tables and countertops, or your babys bed. Nuff said.

I have pets and even had a cat. But he freaked out inside so he was an outside deck cat.
But I wouldnt have done a litter box inside for him.

Keeping them meticulously clean and fresh is a lot of work. Not many
go to the lengths needed.
11:01:50 10/12/2008
(1)
You should at least keep litterbox as clean as you keep your toilet but most
I've seen fall far below that. Now all posters will claim they are that clean, lol. NOT
11:03:08 10/12/2008

I seriously doubt that 90% of cats get on tables and counters sm

Every person I know that has a cat they get on the counters.
Guess I'm not a good trainer and associate with pigs.
12:32:55 10/12/2008
(1)
I said nothing about being pigs. However, if you (collective you) don't train your pets properly
then don't b*tch about what they do.
14:31:08 10/12/2008

They don't all jump on counters.
I've had cats that didn't. nm

See below post Re: pillows and blankies.
.
11:27:27 10/12/2008
(5)
No, they didn't lay on my pillows - kept them covered. They laid on their own
blankets at the foot of the bed, which I kept clean. Geez. nm
11:40:57 10/12/2008
(4)
Congratulations. You are one fine cat owner. Others should aspire
to the same.
11:43:33 10/12/2008
(3)
Yeah, they should. Keep your pillows covered - how hard is that??
Duh. nm
11:56:36 10/12/2008

agree, or better and easier yet, keep the door closed so they can't get in there
or train them to stay off the bed. not rocket science. nm

Wasnt there a post earlier about how all posts were now going to say "but not my cat/house/table
etc?"
11:46:07 10/12/2008
(0)
True. Probably more like 98%. Was giving the benefit of the doubt. What do
you think cats do when nobody home?
10:46:31 10/12/2008
(15)
If you're not home how would you know? What you don't know
won't hurt ya!
12:01:20 10/12/2008

a properly trained cat will not get on counters and tables regardless
nm If that is a problem they you haven't trained your cat properly. nm
11:18:21 10/12/2008
(13)
Even if not on tables, they lay on your pillow, often straight from the litterbox, They
lay on fave blanket that you cuddle up to your face. Ewww
11:26:05 10/12/2008
(5)
pets not allowed on the bed solves that one. they sit in my lap on the couch,
but not allowed on the bed nm
11:52:52 10/12/2008
(0)
That's because you let them. You have to arrange thing so they can't use them.
They should have their OWN pillows and blankets. nm
11:41:53 10/12/2008
(3)
You mean your cat never snuggles with you on your blanket? Why have a pet then?
nm
11:47:34 10/12/2008

Learn how to read. Cat had own blanket at bottom of bed, snuggled there.
Kept my feet warm (while laying on its own blanket) SM

I agree it helps. But, IMO, cats independant enough to do what they want when you
are gone. Some cats surely dont get on tables, but most do, IMO, from what I've seen.

LOL, no. Kitty shed something fierce. Would have had cat hair
all over the counters and tables if he did. Long hair stuck to everything and fell everywhere. sm
12:00:03 10/12/2008

Your evil twin thing is getting old. And, NO, not all cats jump on counters.

11:59:44 10/12/2008

Evil Twin is a moniker. Everyone usually complains that some do not have moniker. Geesh,
do you want monikers or not????

If you figure the number of cats in America, you'd think we'd be having EPIDEMIC
proportion problems and illness, but we don't.
09:36:42 10/12/2008
(1)
People DO get sick with unknown etiology. Could be from cat box exposure, you dont know.
But even if a liilt poop residue on table wont make me sick, I still dont want it there!

We are not talking a little dirt!!! We are talking cat sh*t.
There is a difference.
10:41:44 10/12/2008

I agree... A little dirt and filth in one's life makes for a good immune system. All this
obsessive disinfecting has made us worse off.
10:06:08 10/12/2008
(1)
Along same lines as how much sorrow does a child need, they will get plenty of dirt
and germs if never around a cat. I am not overly clean, but cant see inviting litter box in house.
10:15:08 10/12/2008
(0)
Yes, my kids did those things---on the changing table, on the bed, on my clothes. All things
that can be easily and thoroughly cleaned. Thankfully, tho, no dead animals brought in, lol.
09:02:10 10/12/2008

I remember the shoes with undetected dog poop going all over the house.
That was one of my favs
10:08:33 10/12/2008
(2)
One of the reasons we take shoes off at door. Keeps the carpet looking
newer longer. And lots of people do this, not just Susie Homemaker, which I am not.
10:20:00 10/12/2008
(1)
No carpets here... Wood flooring. Much cleaner IMHO.
Carpets are nasty.
11:36:44 10/12/2008

No worms in pockets brought in? That qualifies, doesn't it? ;)
You WERE lucky.

Agree. To dog kiss poster------ You do know where dogs lick and that they love to get
in the garbage. Dont give me "dogs mouths are cleaner." They lick their butts!!!
10:48:19 10/12/2008

I'm the OP, and I'd still kiss a dog before I'd kiss
an anal-retentive human
11:20:30 10/12/2008

An anal retentive person probably wouldn't let you anywhere
near his butt.

Anal retentive hubby - and no, I don't mess with his butt....but..but
He still kisses me!

But where they poop/pee, you walk with barefeet and maybe lay on floor in same area. And heaven
forbid you have tots on floor, putting toys that lay on same spot in mouth. Ewwww
07:42:20 10/12/2008
(16)
Haven't you ever noticed this, though?
People who are germophobes are the ones with the sickest kids?
09:45:05 10/12/2008
(12)
That's true, and it sounds like most of the people participating in this
discussion are germophobes. Bet you make your kids use wipies too if they get dirt on hands - LOL
12:36:10 10/12/2008

I am not talking germaphobe. My home is far from spotless and my kids never sick.
But the idea of litterbox is ewwwww.

They say all these serious allergies, such as peanut allergies are directly related to
over disinfecting our lives. Our immune system has nothing else to do.
10:07:44 10/12/2008
(9)
Not talking being overly clean, just dont want poop residue on tables, etc. Are you saying
you do? Do you let kids play in poop so they will be healthier, which is your logic.

No, just defending my opinions. Just cause they dont agree with yours
does not mean they are wrong or not as valid as your opinions.
11:33:05 10/12/2008

Opinions are like bung holes. Everyone's got one.
Your opinion is your opinion, and my opinion is mine.
12:07:41 10/12/2008

I quote you "Do you let your kids play in poop?"
That was not defending your opinions, that was just being mean.

It was a post as ridiculous as those that give every reason why they are
not exposed to cat poop even though cat uses litter box in house

Mine did.
So?

How do you disinfect your carpet? How often to you even steam clean it?
