another biker dies (sm)

This happened last night. I don't know why I didn't hear about it until now.

This biker was a Tempe Police Officer, riding his personal motorcycle off duty. As usual someone turned left without looking and ran into the bike.

I knew Scott from some charity rides. He is a "Choir Boy" which is what they call the charity group for police officers who ride. The last time I saw him was exactly a month ago, at Bike Night on Main Street (a local event the 1st Friday of every month). I was there passing out flyers for our yearly charity ride that we put on at our Post. He signed up and paid in advance, along with some of his friends. I have a picture of him and me taken at the ride last year - cute guy, probably in his late 30s. So sad.

My other two friends with brain injuries are about the same. We still do not know if they will make it, but every day they survive makes us hopeful for some sort of recovery.

I feel bad posting this kind of sadness so often, but if it makes even one person pay more attention on the road then it is worth it for everyone to hear it over and over.
