: It's largely a homework club with various teachers sitting in. It's for the 4th thru 8th grades and available to anyone doing less than average or C grade level work in any subject. The teacher(s) help the kids, either individually or in groups, and in our case it's free.
I have also been in contact with the local community college in search of tutors for my DS - and we may be striking up a good deal with the early childhood and early learning programs there whereby DS is taught at his level and the students also learn to deal with disabilities outside the box.
There are lots of students offering tutoring services, too, through the community college - something I think my DD could use when it comes to math, too. I haven't contacted any yet, as DH is helping her but when it gets too far into algebra and beyond he's not going to be able to help, lol.
Just a few thoughts.
As a PS - my DD's current homeroom teacher is a former Sylvan tutor - and not much to rave about!
