If your C90's a 12volt model, the ignition supply is from a separate generator coil in the alternator, and nothing to do with the battery or charging system. The HT lead may be showing its age (high resistance)
AND in defence of Fred there... the link to the other site wasn't advertising.. I'm sure he's nothing to do with the running of the site and has nothing to gain... it's just helpful advice, as the other site is very popular and gets many useful replies to questions such as yours!
Not everyone in this world is on the make, and that's especially true of C90 riders on the whole!!
