Hello,
I am looking for a book, but I don't remember the title or author. I read it in the late 1980's in Canada. The story was set in 1800's South Africa. It was about a woman who lived there, I think she was Irish and she was married to a Dutch South African named Van Reebeck. He is her second husband. I don't remember his first name or if that is spelled right. She had eight or nine children and her oldest son lived in Europe. She lives on a farm with her husband and the rest of her children. I think one of her sons is having an affair with a maid named Fatima, which she is not happy about. She also witnesses an African boy being whipped and steps in to save him and takes him home to her farm. She had some problems with her husband towards the middle of the story. The cover has a picture of the woman, she has red hair and she is holding a rifle I think, and there is a man standing behind her and I think he is wearing a hat. The cover is either yellow or orange mixed with some red. Please, can anyone help me with this. Thank you.
