All she remembers is:
1. It starts out when The Mckinnon brothers return home from either the war or something?
2. The older brother Eric is in love with Katherine's older girlie/feminine sister.
3. Katherine has red hair, does all the house work and owns a stubborn donkey clovis
4. They live in either the midwest or south on Farms.
5. The Mckinnon brothers have a hard time making setting up their farm and head out to the goldrush in California and later start a lumbering company.
6. Eric writes Katherine's name by accident on a letter he sends to the sisterss, asking her to marry him and move to the lumber camp.
7. Katherine comes and they fall in love, but one day she finds a letter Eric meant to send to her sister explaining the mix up.
