Hey Friends.....After the week we had last week, we need a break from the cold. See, we drove over 600 miles from Fargo North Dakota & got back to Chicago area on Monday Jan 14th at 6am, only to have a garbage truck driver run up to our truck & yell that our trailer wheel was falling off. We pulled into a parking lot about 2 miles from our house and saw that the wheel bearings were GONE & the tire was still on the trailer ONLY because the metal lip of the fender had caught one of the treads in the tire & that's what kept the tire from falling off. We spent two days getting parts & finally got the trailer home to "BATTERY" HQ. Then we took the trailer to get the spindle re-threaded. So we thought we were ready for our 1000 mile trip to Rhode Island. Well we thought wrong, cuz when I took the truck to Midas for an oil change, the engine sounded like a diesel engine (we have a gas engine). Midas checked it out & told me that the tensioners on the timing chain were fucked & we couldn't take it to Rhode Island, unless we didn't want to make it back. We had to leave in 5 hours, so I called our buddy Tony Van Doring from N/W Indiana, & he agreed to take his Chevy Tahoe & tow our trailer to Rhode Island & NY for the weekend. So we thought we had eveything figured out. Our buddy Lonnie (bassist of Execution), got in contact with his cousin & they agreed to pick up our truck from "BATTERY" HQ & fix it while we were gone to RI.
So we hit I-80/90 for Rhode Island, & two hours in....all HELL broke loose!!!! When we stopped to pay the last toll in Indiana, TONY pullled away from the toll & Laurence screamed, "There's 4 foot Flames shooting out of our other trailer tire"!!!! Tony pulled over & we saw the OTHER trailer hub was on fire. The flames died out & the hub now looked like it was filled with molten lava!!!! Tony & Phil threw water & snow on the hub to cool it & we start making calls to emergency roadside repair. But at midnight, nobody had the proper bearings. So we pulled the hub off & headed for a PILOT truck stop. NO luck until 7 am when we found a RURAL KING that sells tractor supplies & they had the bearings we needed. Got the bearings & a new hub, & headed back to the trailer. Now we thought we were in the clear but it's 7:30 am now & one old bearing collar will not come off the spindle. We have to call a roadside repair truck who burns the bearing off with a torch & puts the hub back on....and by 8:30 am we're back o the road to Rhode Island. MINUS $250 DOLLARS. SO now TONY drove like a man possessed....to make the show in Rhode Island and we made it to the club at 10:30 pm....30 mis before we had to go on. So we made the show thanx to TONY VAN DORING!!!!
The trailer is fine now & our truck will be ready to head to FLorida tomorrow, thanx to Lonnie's cousin Lloyd of LLOYD'S AUTO REPAIR in KNOX Indiana.
So we had a brutal week of cold & bull-shit...but we're ready to rock again!!!!
SO we're trying to escape the cold winter of the north & head south to Florida for a few days & a few shows.
