: Can anyone remember the winter of 1962/63 when we were at Shornecliffe? I was living in Hospital Lines,I had a bath Friday night but couldn't empty the bath because the waste was frozen outside.Next morning the water in the bath was frozen solid and I had to chip it out and toss it out of the window.
: When the thaw came,in April, the cottage next to mine was empty, and the water pipes burst, Me and Johnny Giles had to break in to turn the water off.
: Anybody else got any memories of that winter.

Mike Sinden wanted to know what us then Civilians did, we dug our selves after a week or two, up till then we had to walk on the hedges to get down the pub, and also dug the sheep and bullocks ( no its true ) out down the local farm to earn a few bob,( all the building sites were shut down ), we didn,t get paid to chip ice out of baths as the Army (( Squadies having baths what ever next, whimps, we used to beat the dirt off with a length of lead pipe)) did,if we didn,t work we didn,t get paid at all, so some of you had it easy, no problems, got loads of pics of the snow if required as proof, Best of Luck to All, Keep it coming, Youngie.
PS Now wait for the Flack!!!!
