My father fought in the great War with the 4th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. He also has the Croix de Guerre with Palm. I also tried to find out how he got it as the 4th Bn were in the middle east(getting their feet wet in Turkey) and came back to france for the last big push. I assume that so many were allotted to a unit as on the back of the medal is 1914 - 1918. Promotion was quick his rank on 1914-1915 star is L cpl but on his DCM is CSM and on the Victory Medal A WO Cl I
