Tomorrow as usual, I shall be on parade in my village led by our Mayor along with another dozen or so. There are in total just under 200 per’s in the village. We form up outside the Mayors office. March… On the other hand, rather stroll to the village memorial where the Mayor will lay a bouquet of flowers followed by reading out all the names of those who died in the village for France. Then two mins silence.
Off back to the Marie out comes the booze and bites for the next hour or so. At 1300hr, we all sit down to lunch that will not end until 2200 hrs that evening. Good food, good wine and most of all good company. What more could one ask for? This will be my 17th remembrance day in France.
