I attended the Service at Hailsham,s War Remorial yesterday morning and was surprised by the number of people who were there, Babes in arms, young school kids, couples young & old,Cadets & old bones like me, the most I have seen for a long time in spite of the cold high winds so perhaps all the Media cover had a good effect, at the first note of The Last Post it started to rain & by the end of the Two Minuete Silence it was chucking it down and continued to rain through the Wreath Laying & the Piping by two Pipers ( very good they were too )it more or less stopped by the end of the Service by wich time we were quite cold & wet, but I was impressed by the fact that nobody ran for cover through out it all, they all stood their ground, young & old alike, I think that said it all about the British People, they showed they cared & it showed their respect for the fallen of all conflicts, so well done Hailsham.
