In defence of Sam Harvey. I was in charge of all of the black soldiers who were sent to us in Tidworth... They were there waiting disciplinary action for various crimes. In fact, their crimes were front-page news in the tabloids. I had just returned from the Depot. One could say I am the only Pl Sgt who had a complete platoon of black soldiers. All found guilty and dismissed from the army. To say they were a handful would be an understatement. However, as we all know when you are vertically challenged know one in their right sense would challenge your authority.
Sam Harvey was not one of these soldiers. He was well liked in the Bn and very much respected. . Sam was a first class soldier. The former were a disgrace to themselves their race and the British Army.
