Schools hire AETs for the purpose of helping children not only improve their English abilities but also understand other countries' cultures. AET's main task is to give the children the chance to interact with people from different countries.
Applicants basically just need to have a bachelor's degree and be a native-level English speaker. Teaching certifications are a plus but not required. Sufficient training and support materials are provided so AETs without prior experience could easily cope up with the requirements of the job.
