EF is one of the largest educational establishments in the world! With over 40 years of experience, EF is devoted to breaking down cultural barriers by giving students the opportunity to learn new languages and discover new cultures. EF English First is committed to recruiting teachers of English as a foreign language who are dedicated to teaching and experiencing something new and extraordinary!
Our centers, in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, boast excellent facilities and encourage professional development. Regular observations and academic workshops are provided to help guide teachers in improving and enhancing their teaching skills and opportunities abound for development and growth within EF’s global network of language centres.
In the south of China, EF predominantly caters for young learners and our class sizes are limited to sixteen. We split our learners into the following groups:
Small Stars (3/4 year olds)
Small Stars (5/6 year olds)
High Flyers (7/10 year olds)
Trailblazers (11/14 year olds)
Real English (15-22 year olds)
Each group of learners is split into a number of different levels and support on teaching the different age groups is provided by the Director of Studies.
A standard curriculum is provided for each of our courses, however teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the content to meet the needs of their individual classes. Teachers have access to a library of supplementary course materials, flashcards and multimedia resources to make their classes as dynamic and interactive as possible.
Teachers are required to work a forty-hour working week, of which a maximum of twenty hours are contact teaching during the non-peak season and twenty-six hours during the peak season (July/August/January/February). The remaining time is dedicated to lesson preparation, conducting placement interviews for new learners, attending professional development workshops and assisting in the occasional marketing activity (e.g. providing a demonstration class in a local primary school).
